Feed and Pet Goats, Pigs & More: Goat Daddy’s Farm, Elgin, SC

Inside: Meet various animals and purchase locally made products at Goat Daddy’s Farm in Elgin, SC.

Have you been thinking about a trip to Goat Daddy’s Farm?
Want to have a family day trip out to the country where you can hand-feed and pet a variety of animals?

At Goat Daddy’s Farm, not only will your family have the opportunity to do just that, but you will also gain great knowledge about animal care.

You’ll be able to discuss any questions you have with friendly and knowledgeable staff and have the opportunity to purchase your own goat milk products made from the goats right at the farm. So, what are you waiting for?

Feeding animals at Goat Daddy's Farm

Reasons to Love Goat Daddy’s Farm

Goat Daddy’s Farm was founded in 2014 with a vision to provide humanely-raised dairy products to South Carolina residents. Since then, they have grown rapidly and in 2021 officially became recognized as an animal sanctuary. They have been a part of rescuing several animals, nurturing them back to health, and providing them with a safe environment. They work closely with veterinarians, DNR, and DHEC to ensure that not only are their animals healthy, but that their products are safe for consumption as well.

This farm has done a fantastic job at making the most out of the space they have. There is so much to see and learn, and even some opportunities for hands-on experiences! Goat Daddy’s is open for private tours and events any day of the week. In the future, they may again offer public hours without reservations, but currently, you must sign up for a tour in advance.

Arriving at Goat Daddy’s

The road leading into Goat Daddy’s Farm is a long, narrow dirt road, but don’t let that deter you from the fun! You will go a little over ½ a mile down the road and arrive straight into the farm’s parking area. Please be cautious of speed bumps along the way. Because it is a dirt road, speed bumps are a bit hard to see but very much there!

Planning for Your Great Day

To best plan for your trip to Goat Daddy’s, it is important to note that the majority of the pathways here are dirt and gravel. That being said, we strongly recommend wearing tennis shoes or even boots!

The farm flows really nicely, making the need for a stroller or wagon relatively low. But, if you do think you’ll need one, a foldable wagon or a stroller that pushes really well and has bigger wheels is your best option.

My 3-year-old didn’t ask to get in our wagon once; however, we did have it with us for our 1-year-old. If you’ve got a younger kiddo, and the weather is nice, it would even be a good idea to wear them in a carrier in order to be hands-free!

Tickets for the Farm

Purchase your tour in advance.

At the time of our review, public hours were available, and food for the animals was sold. Each bowl-full of animal feed cost $5 and comes with both carrots and grain for the animals. Some animals are a bit particular in what they like, but you’ll learn quickly what they’re after – except the goats, they’ll eat it all and maybe even give a friendly nibble to your shirt while they’re at it (haha).

Animals You’ll Meet at Goat Daddy’s

Here are a few of my family’s favorite animals on the farm:

Goats

Not only are you able to feed the goats at the fence, but you can also go inside their pasture and hang-out with them! They were all so curious and loved the attention of everyone coming inside.

Also, at 10 am, on the first Saturday of every month, you can be involved in a goat milking demonstration. Staff members will tell you a little bit about goat life, the milking process, demonstrate how to milk a goat, and then anyone who is interested will be able to assist in goat milking!

All the kids loved this little event!

Camel – “Abu”

It’s not every day that you get to see a camel, much less FEED one. Abu made his way to Goat Daddy’s after a traumatic birth where he was left with a broken front left leg. Now, all healed up, Abu is friendly, enjoys all the carrots you’re willing to give him, and will allow you to gently pet him.

Horse – “Smokey”

Smokey is over 30 years old, but you’d never guess it by looking at him! He loves both grain and carrots. Be sure to hold your hand flat when feeding him!

Horses at Goat Daddy's Farm

Pot Belly Pigs

My son loved throwing carrots over to these big guys (and gals)! I don’t know much about pigs, but I don’t think they have the best eyesight. We had fun throwing in the snacks and watching which piggy would sniff their way to it first. They don’t move very fast, but they’re fun to watch nonetheless!

Pigs at Goat Daddy's Farm

Along with these animals you will also see a cow, chickens, a llama, tortoises, prairie dogs (inside the store), alpacas, donkeys, and more! If you have any questions about the animals on the farm, any of the staff members would be more than happy to answer them for you.

They are all very friendly and knowledgeable, and you can tell they truly love not only their jobs, but also the animals they care for! It was so refreshing to see!

Don’t Miss the Farm Store

Before completing your visit don’t forget to make a stop in the farm store! Here, you will find a variety of goat cheeses, goat milk, fresh eggs, goat soap, and more, straight from the animals at the farm. The goat soap smells amazing, and we couldn’t help but leave with a few bars of our own.

The farm store is also open throughout the week, Monday to Friday, from 10 am to 6 pm. You can order their products online, and they will have it ready for you with your name on it when you arrive.

Other Great Events at Goat Daddy’s Farm

Calling all yoga enthusiasts! You’ve got to give goat yoga at this farm a try! This is an hour-long class where you will get to interact with baby goats, exercise, enjoy a mimosa after class, and even get a tour of the farm – talk about a fun day!

Do be aware, however, that it is called GOAT YOGA for a reason, as in, baby goats WILL come up to you and demand your attention . . . and I’m not sure baby goats know many manners.

Another unique opportunity available at Goat Daddy’s is a soap-making class. Classes can be anywhere from 6 to 12 people and you will learn all the steps of making goat soap. At the end of the class each participant will be able to take home one bar of soap!

Additional events we encourage you to check out are their seasonal events, homeschool days, and homesteading and animal care classes. Goat Daddy’s is even available for birthday parties and weddings – how memorable!

You can also follow Goat Daddy’s Farm on Facebook to stay up-to-date with their events and announcements.

Lula Drake Wine Parlour is one of our favorites! Whether you’re looking for a romantic place to take your significant other or maybe you’re on the hunt for a cool place to hang out with friends, Lula Drake should be at the top of your list to try. Filled with so much history, a quaint and inviting atmosphere, and knowledgeable staff, we can’t wait to share more about our recent experience with you!

Lula Drake Wine Parlour in Columbia, SC

A Glimpse Into the 1920’s

More than just a stunning, old building along Main Street in downtown Columbia, the Lula Drake Wine Parlour holds so much neat history! The name of this wine bar came to be when the owners found an old trunk in the basement that dated back to the 1920’s. Inside, they found the belongings of a woman named “Lula Drake” who they came to learn was a business owner.

Lula Drake owned her own hat shop, a business that was predominantly run by men and is said to have been a trailblazer for women-owned businesses all throughout the Midlands.

What to Expect at Lula Drake Wine Parlour

The building, now owned by Certified Sommelier Tim Gardner, is lavishly decorated in dark, warm colors with a very vintage and welcoming atmosphere. Along with bar seating, there are also small tables with comfortable seats spread throughout the restaurant.

One thing my husband and I love about Lula Drake is how quaint it is. There isn’t tons of seating, which makes it feel very cozy and romantic. Perfect for having a relaxing evening full of great conversation and even better wine!

One of the Best Wine Bars in Columbia, SC

At Lula Drake Wine Parlour you will find a rotating list of wines that can be purchased by the glass or bottle. In addition to wine, they also have more than 40 bottled beer options.

Along with adult beverages, they also serve a variety of small plates such as pasta, homemade desserts, charcuterie boards, non-alcoholic drinks, and more. The food menu changes frequently to match the available wine lists to give you the best pairings and flavors!

Lula Drake Wine Parlour Review

My husband and I recently had a date night with no real destination in mind other than heading downtown kid-free! After a quick dinner, we ventured into Lula Drake and spent the rest of our night hanging out there.

The staff was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. With so many wine options to choose from, we couldn’t decide and ended up asking the bartender for some suggestions. After telling her a bit about the tastes we usually enjoy the most, she recommended a red wine that was EXACTLY what we were both looking for.

We never felt rushed and were given plenty of time and space to enjoy our evening together. Along with a date night with your significant other, this would also be the perfect place to meet up with some friends for a girls’ night, hang out with other couples, or even treat yourself to a quiet, peaceful evening. We know you’ll love it just as much as we did!

Surge Trampoline Park: Need to Know

When entering Surge Trampoline Park you will be welcomed with bold colors, flashy lights, catchy music, and fun to be had as far as the eye can see. Before letting the kiddos run free, you will have to fill out a waiver. There are tablets just inside the front door to do so; however, I strongly recommend completing these online before going.

Everyone who jumps must wear Surge trampoline-safe socks. These can be purchased during check-in for an additional fee and can be kept and reused for future visits.

There are plenty of cubby spaces to store shoes and other belongings as well as picnic tables, massage chairs, and sofas set up all around the jump zones.

No outside food or drinks are allowed; however, there is a small concession stand with snacks and bottled drinks if needed.

Did I mention that parents and adults are also welcome to join in on the fun? Let loose, make memories, and share some laughs with your people!

JUMP for Joy! Trampolines at Surge

Within Surge Trampoline Park you and your family can find just about any type of trampoline you’re looking for. Most trampolines are broken up into zones: basketball, dodgeball, tumbling/basic jump, toddler, and high jump games. I loved the variety of dedicated jump spaces as it helped spread out the crowds and keep the kiddos engaged as they ran to and from different zones.

Ninja Course at Surge

Do You Have What it Takes? Ninja Course

Inspired by the popular TV series, “American Ninja Warrior,” the Ninja Course is sure to be a fun challenge! This is better suited for older children and adults. There are three different courses, each with four different (did I mention challenging?) obstacles.

These courses will test your balance, strength, and agility time and time again. Good luck!

Fly High at Surge Trampoline Park

Take a tall flight of stairs up to the high ropes course and large zipline. The zipline soars over a foam pit where you will let go and free fall at any point. At the high ropes course, you will be strapped into a harness and make your way across several balancing obstacles with dangling ropes to help guide you. Keep in mind, there are height requirements for both of these thrillers!

For the Tots: Surge Trampoline Park

At Surge Trampoline Park you will find TWO spaces dedicated to the tots! The trampoline area for toddlers was surprisingly very large and had its own small foam pit and a couple of small obstacles for climbing up on and jumping back down.

Parents and employees did a fantastic job at making sure this space stayed dedicated to just the littles.

Along with the toddler trampoline area, there is a second area completely detached from everything else. Here you can find a jungle-gym styled playscape with slides, low-hanging monkey bars, and plenty of climbing space.

There are also large, soft blocks and ramps that can be put together in different ways along the floor for added play and imagination.

Take a Leap into the Foam Pits

Throughout Surge Trampoline Park you will find several areas with foam pits. Two balance beams with jousting sticks can be found over one of these. This is always a popular game for the pre-teens! In addition to the balance beams, foam pits can be found underneath a high dive/diving board, trapeze bar, and slanted trampolines where you can attempt your best parkour tricks.

Test Your Luck at the Arcade

Have extra change lying around? Don’t forget to bring it along with you and save yourself from a tantrum or two. The arcade is set up in the middle of the play space and offers several popular arcade games. You can trade in any won tickets for small trinkets and goodies before you leave!

Guignard Park: The Perfect Shady Place to Play, Splash, and Enjoy Nature

Posted on |

Are you looking for a park with water access or maybe even a shady walking trail and playground?
Guignard Park in Cayce, SC has it all – a paved walking trail, playground, natural stream for splashing and cooling off in the summer sun, artwork, great views of nature, and best part is . . . it’s ALL shaded! If you’re anything like me, you’ve driven past Guignard Park multiple times, but just never had the time to stop. Do yourself a favor and next time you’re near it, plan to check it out!

Guignard Park in Cayce, SC

Go, Discover Guignard!

Although Guignard Park is right off of the busy and well-known Blossom Street, the views, sounds, and overall feel of the park is surprisingly pleasant and peaceful. With the running stream, wildlife, and hundreds of tall, shady trees; it feels as if you’re miles outside of town. One fun thing to do while there is to look for the two carved-out wooden structures as they are so unique and neat to see – happy hunting!

Walk the Beautifully Shaded Trail at Guignard

If you’re looking to get in some exercise or even just take a leisurely stroll around with your littles, the shady trail at Guignard will be perfect for you! Three laps around the trail equal 1 mile. It’s shaded, has a beautiful and relaxing stream running through the middle, and lots of plants, flowers, and wildlife to enjoy. The path is smooth and wide enough to push a stroller on and has several benches and large picnic shelters for resting along the way.

My toddler loved wandering along the path, collecting sticks, and looking out for wildlife. We pretended to be on a bear hunt and while we didn’t see any bears (insert disappointed toddler), we did see several butterflies, birds, and bugs. This brings me to my next point . . . DON’T forget your bug spray!

You can also bring your furry friend(s) along for some exercise and fresh air as dogs are allowed in the park but must remain on a leash!

Shaded, paved Guignard park path

You Can Play in a Natural Stream at Guignard Park

The stream at Guignard Park is awesome! There are several great entrance points that are flat and easy to spot, but I think the best play area is towards the parking lot and on the backside of the trail loop. Here, there is pretty much a straight shot from the trail to the water, a decent-sized area without many plants or overgrowth, and the water is about knee-deep for toddlers.

We allowed my son to get his toes wet, but wish we would have been better prepared with water shoes and maybe even some dry shorts for him to be able to go out a bit deeper. There were a few other toddlers and their families taking advantage of the refreshing water – truly such a great activity for a hot and humid Columbia day! The stream can be a bit rocky and unsteady in some areas so just be cautious of where little feet may step.

Guignard Park stream

Playground at Guignard

While the playground is small, it still gets the job done. There are several slides, monkey bar rings, and a climbing wall made of tires. Just behind the playground is a ping-pong table which I thought was neat, but you will have to bring your own ball and paddles if you plan on using this feature. I did note that there are no swings at Guignard, and even though the playground has most of what kiddos need, it probably isn’t suitable for children under 3 or 4 years old.

Looking for a playground more suited for younger kids? Be sure to check out our full list of more than 19 fantastic places to play!

Other Things to do Nearby

The park is in a fairly central area of town with tons of fun things to do all around. Both the Cayce Riverwalk and West Columbia Riverwalk are just a few blocks away and great places to continue your day of walking and exercise. Within a 10-minute drive is EdVenture Children’s Museum, SC State Museum, the University of South Carolina, and several great places to eat such as Zesto, Manny’s Shaved Ice, and Cafe Strudel

Before we discuss the exhibits, let’s start with some helpful tips to get you prepared for your “edventure.” This children’s museum is closed on Tuesdays but is open every other day of the week.

Baby and Toddler at EdVenture

I was very impressed by all of the thoughtful features throughout the museum for even the littlest of littles! For starters, the museum is well-planned out, making it easy to maneuver strollers to and from the exhibits. There is also an elevator located in the middle of the museum that is large enough for the whole family – strollers and all!

On the second floor, in “My Backyard” (the area for those under 3 years old), there is a cozy nursing room complete with a rocking chair, bookshelf, and dark, retractable curtains.

EdVenture Children’s Museum Exhibits

More than nine different areas with endless amounts of learning and exploration can be found at EdVenture. We will walk you through each level of the museum and let you know what to expect as you wander around with your kids!

On the main level of EdVenture you’ll find the majority of the museum’s exhibits.

World of Work

What do you want to be when you grow up? What about a firefighter? How about a farmer? Or maybe a chef or auto mechanic? You can try it all throughout this all-encompassing exhibit where kids can learn about different careers! “World of Work” takes up the majority of the main level of EdVenture!

Dalmatian Station

Dalmatian Station is located near the museum’s entrance, and it’s one of the first attractions families encounter upon arriving at EdVenture.

Dalmatian Station is an interactive fire safety exhibit. Here, children can learn about fire safety, create an escape plan, and even explore a real-life 24-foot fire truck with working lights. Dalmatian Station comes equipped with a fire truck, fire pole, water hoses, and even a crawl tunnel. And don’t forget to stop by the Fire Safety Theater, an immersive theater exhibit.

The theater features a video “Get out, Stay Out, Meet Up,” which teaches children important life-saving fire safety rules. A real, local firefighter is typically on stand-by in Fire Safety Theater to show the video and answer any questions afterward.

Busy Bee Farm

Across from Dalmatian Station, you will find a dairy and produce farm.

Here, your children can “milk” a cow, harvest vegetables, climb onto a tractor, and even collect fruits from the fruit trees to send to the grocery store.

Little Spot Diner

Be sure to also check out the Little Spot Diner and let your kids make you a delicious meal. From a pizza oven and stove, to plates and condiments, this diner is so lifelike, you can even eat your “food” directly at the counter!

Auto Works

Come explore the world of automobiles and transportation at Auto Works!

In this interactive exhibit, children can learn about automobile mechanics, operate vehicle controls, simulate car maintenance tasks, learn the technology behind vehicles, and even role-play!

Publix Market

The Publix Market is always a popular choice within the World of Work! With small, green Publix shopping carts, check-out lanes, and realistic foods and goods, your family is sure to have fun pretending to shop!

In early 2024, Publix Super Markets Charities introduced several new enhancements to the previous EdVenture grocery market, including new flooring, additional cash registers, new signage, and more!

Richland Library

This exhibit offers a miniature version of a Richland County library branch, complete with children’s books, a puppet stage and theater, as well as fun and cozy reading nooks. For anyone seeking a calm environment within the museum, the library offers a quiet retreat!

EdVenture

Eddie!

You can’t miss him, he’s the world’s largest child measuring in at over 40 feet tall with a heart weighing over 500 pounds! Eddie is his name, and he will help teach your children all about body organs and their functions!

You can climb up a set of stairs that will take you into his stomach, intestines, heart, and brain. Eddie is the perfect combination of fun and education as his insides are set up like a jungle gym, but with realistic organs – You can hear his beating heart, the electricity inside of his brain as well as his stomach growling when you listen carefully.

As you make your way up, take a tunnel slide back down to his large shoes (which are each about the size of a car, might I add), and start your exploration again! I love that Eddie opens up a door for parents and caregivers to talk to and teach their children about the wonderful things our bodies can do at such an age-appropriate level.

In May 2023, EdVenture introduced a new companion for Eddie—a firefly! This new addition, replaced Eddie’s original companion, a dragonfly known as “Stink.” The new firefly, crafted by artist Meaghan Westfall, is named “J,” in honor of fallen Irmo Fire District firefighter James Muller.

MedVenture

MedVenture at EdVenture in Columbia, SC

At MedVenture, children can explore the world of medical professions through hands-on exhibits.

There’s a mini version of an ambulance to explore, a supersized surgical table like the board game “Operation,” as well as unlimited medical equipment and tools. Kids can even wear a hospital lab coat and stethoscope as they imagine they’re a doctor, surgeon, paramedic, x-ray technician, dentist, and physical therapist. And that’s just to name a few of the many different careers they can learn about here!

Wags & Whiskers

Get ready to put your children’s pet care abilities to the test! In this area, they will be able to care for a variety of different animals with x-rays, grooming and veterinary tools, and basic pet care needs. Wags & Whiskers teaches your child how to care for the health of their pets through interactive play.

Biolab at EdVenture

Let your child explore their inner scientist in the Biolab, designed to teach kids about biomedical science in a fun way! With teaching laboratories, this exhibit and programming is geared toward kids ages 5 – 14 to spark a lifelong interest in the biomedical field. *Be sure to check with the front desk upon arrival for lab times facilitated by a member of the Curiosity Crew.

Cooking Lab at EdVenture

Enjoy cooking and preparing real food in the Cooking Lab, all while learning about the body, how nutrition is important, and tie all the information together with what is taught in the Biolab.

The Great Outdoors

The outdoor area at EdVenture complements the indoor exhibits, offering both educational and fun activities through outdoor play. The Great Outdoors is made up of several areas: water play, gem mining, prop plane and a tricycle pathway. Be mindful, that your kids may get pretty wet in the water play area, so an extra shirt or full change of clothes isn’t a bad idea! Come play, cool off, climb, ride, mine or just come to learn!

Fly an Airplane on the Second Floor of EdVenture

The second level of the museum is home to all things science, engineering, and technology, but with a closed-off room dedicated to the tiniest explorers.

This part of the museum immerses children in the world of aviation and aerospace!

Proudly featuring a Boeing 757 cockpit, kids can actually sit in the pilot or co-pilot seat, explore the gears and gadgets, and even look out of the windshield at a view of the Congaree river! Additionally, you can experience the following:

    • Three separate Boeing 777 flight simulators offer kids the opportunity to pilot a virtual flight
  • Boeing 747 Engine Cowling
    • A massive engine cowling serves as an entry point to the exhibit, providing a tactile experience of aircraft components.
  • Paper Airplane Station
    • Children can create, launch and test their own paper airplanes
  • Wind Tunnel
    • Kids can experience principles of lift and air flow in this small wind tunnel
  • KUKA Robot

Draw Alive

At this exhibit, children can help bring their drawings to life! First, your child will select a coloring sheet template (dinosaurs, planes, farm animals, etc). Next, they will color their sheet using markers provided. After the sheet has been colored, the drawing is placed under a scanner and within seconds, your child’s colored sheet will appear on the screen. Lastly, watch as your child’s animal or object come to life with animation and technology.

A-ha! Masterspace

In this area, your children will be able to create and build. In the “Open Make” center, there are several recycled materials where your kids can cut, glue, fold and color their own creations. There are also several different styles of blocks that can be found – magnetic, large Legos, KAPLA blocks, waffle blocks, etc. that will put your child’s problem-solving and engineering skills to the test!

This part of the museum is best suited for children 5-10 years old, however, with extra assistance, younger children might also be able to engage in some of the play (especially with the building blocks).

My Backyard exhibit at EdVenture

As mentioned before, there is also a nursing area and large, family-style restroom within.

Storytime, Crafts, Game Nights, & More for the Whole Family at Richland County Libraries

Posted on |

Have you been to your local Richland County Library recently?
Are you looking for events and learning opportunities that your whole family can enjoy? Of course, the libraries have books, but what a lot of people don’t know is that the Richland County Libraries host tons of family-friendly, wholesome events all throughout the week. There are groups for teenagers, crafting events for adults, storytimes for toddlers, learning workshops, and much, much more!

Richland County Libraries

Need more ideas on free things to do around Columbia? We’ve got you covered with more than 50 awesome free ideas!

About Richland Library

The Richland County Library system is made up of 13 libraries! With locations in downtown, West Columbia, Irmo, Hopkins, Eastover, and Blythewood there is sure to be a library near you.

The main library is located downtown off of Assembly Street and is massive, clean, and so well done! There are several different floors and the whole bottom floor is dedicated to kids and teens. On this level, you will find tables set up for coloring and simple artwork, scavenger hunts for preteens, a foosball table, puzzles, games, various styles of building blocks, and more. My son not only enjoys gathering up a few new books to take home but also wandering around and playing at all the neat stations.

Family Storytime at the Richland County Libraries

One library event that my kids and I LOVE is Family Storytime. This storytime is open to children from 0 to 12 years old. While the majority of attendees are babies and preschoolers, the library does a fantastic job at including children of all ages and tweaking things to meet the needs of the smallest babies up to the oldest kiddos in the group.

Why We Love Family Storytime

At Family Storytime you can expect to have several short stories read to your children with breaks in between books for fun, interactive songs, and movement. The end of storytime is left for open play and there are usually toys such as blocks, large stuffed animals, coloring, and puzzles available.

Not only is this a great opportunity for your littles to interact with their peers and learn through books and music, but it is also a fantastic time for caregivers to meet and chat with each other. I think we can all agree that even just a few minutes of adult interaction outside of your home can do WONDERS!

Here’s Where You Can Enjoy Family Storytime

Family Storytime is held at several different library locations throughout the week. It is not uncommon for families to travel to one or two locations during the week to enjoy this family outing! Storytimes are usually around mid to late morning. However, storytimes change often, especially during the transition between summer and back to school, or can be canceled, so always be sure to double-check dates and times before heading out! Here are the branches that do storytime more regularly: Sandhills, Main, Ballentine, Northeast, Cooper, North Main, and Wheatley.

Richland County Libraries kids events

Richland Libraries – Preschool Crafts and Art Events

Another event my kiddos enjoy is the preschool crafts! The crafts are always very well-planned, organized, and unique! Sometimes a story will be read that goes along with the craft for that day; the craft is shown and explained; and then the kiddos are given their materials. The library has all you’ll need for each craft and even for clean-up!

Let’s Make Art!

I love the art events for several reasons, but the main reason is that it allows my kiddos to gain some independence and learn new skills that we wouldn’t usually do at home. Plus, I always think children learn best from their peers so having both younger and older kids all around gives them people to look up to as well as help out. It’s just an added bonus that not much planning or clean-up has to go on, on my end anyway – thank you, librarians!!

When and Where Your Kids Can Get Artsy

Some art events take place weekly; however, the majority of them are spread out throughout the month. As always, be sure to check the event location and time before going! Some craft events need to be registered for in advance as there may be a limited number of seats available.

Other Events to Enjoy at Richland Libraries

The events page of the Richland County Libraries is always packed full of great events for ALL age groups, skill levels, and interests. Take a look at a few more events we think would be great!

Pigskin Poets 2025

Each year, right before football season begins, the library hosts “Pigskin Poets.” At this event, the University of South Carolina football players, Cocky, and the librarians will read stories and poems, interact in games, and even sign autographs. This year, the event will be held on July 18, 2025, from 3 pm to 4:30 pm at The Drew Wellness Center. This is an event you won’t want to miss!

Teen Game Night

Does your teen love board games? How about video games? If so, you might want to send them to teen game night at the library! They will be able to partake in friendly competition and socially connect with peers who have similar interests. Heads up, registration is usually necessary for this event!

Sew Divine: A Gathering for Crafters

Sew Divine is held for adults and is a time to get together with people who share the same hobbies and interests as you! You will need to bring your own craft/art project such as knitting, needlework, scrapbooking, crocheting, etc. Here, you will be able to discuss crafting ideas and maybe even gain a few tips to help improve your skills!

There are SO MANY more events to discover at Richland County Libraries. For a full list of events be sure to head to the Richland County Library website.

Have you had the opportunity to join in on an event at the library? Which event did you get to enjoy?
