So Much to Enjoy at Doko Park
Doko Meadows Park is a large 22-acre multipurpose park found in the heart of downtown Blythewood. Complete with clean restrooms, a fenced-in playground, walking trails, a fishing dock, an event space, an amphitheater, and a huge open field. Doko Meadows is the perfect place for families to go to have fun, make memories and spend as much or as little time as they need.
Large Playground at Doko Meadows
The playground at Doko Meadows Park has all your kids will need and more! Complete with two separate play areas – one for children 5 and under and the other for 5 and up. The toddler area is shaded with a large umbrella and includes two small slides as well as climbing structures to get up and down. The larger playscape is made up of 3 large slides, monkey bars, and balancing equipment.
Recent additions to the park include shade covering, and new artificial turf ground covering. That’s right, the woodchips are gone!
New Playground Shade!
The park has a large climbing structure made of rope that was popular for the older kids. There are also a large variety of swings that can be found at Doko – bucket swings, traditional swings, a wheelchair-accessible swing, and high-back swings.
The playspace is also completely fenced in which is one feature I know we, as caregivers, always appreciate! A “Free Little Library” can also be found here!
Take a Walk Along the Trails
At Doko Meadows you will find walking trails! The majority of the trails are shaded and paved, making pushing a stroller or allowing your kiddos to ride their bikes easy. Along the trail and behind the main playground you will have a beautiful view of the pond and Doko Manor. The nature trail at Doko Meadows is a 1 mile out and back trail, and is considered an easy trail.
You Can Go Fishing at Doko Meadows Park
Have any fishing enthusiasts in the family? There is a small pond at Doko Meadows and the good news is, fishing is allowed! A dock sits out into the water where several people with young children learning how to bait their hooks can usually be found.
No fishing pole? No problem! My son enjoyed looking at the wildlife from the dock. We fed the ducks swimming by and spotted several turtles poking their heads up.
What can you feed ducks? Bread actually isn’t good for ducks. Check out some alternatives to safely feed ducks. They are just as fun and the ducks’ will be healthier for it!
Doko Manor – The Perfect Event Space
If you’ve got a special event coming up, we suggest looking into Doko Manor! This beautiful event space first opened up in 2013, sits right along the pond, and includes a full catering kitchen, 5,000 square feet of indoor space, an outside pergola and so much more. This space is open all week for events from 7 am – midnight.
Amphitheater at Doko Meadows
The amphitheater at Doko is huge and has enough seating for 2,500 people! Surrounded by a large, well-manicured green space perfect for picnic blankets, lawn chairs, flying kites, playing ball, or anything else you think your tribe may be interested in – the options are endless!
