Outdoor/Nature Camps in Columbia

We invite you to join us from June 10th through July 26th for our Highlander Day Camps, or your choice of more than 100 specialty camps in arts, athletics, academics, and more for ages 2 through 12th grade. We are excited to welcome both Heathwood and non-Heathwood families for fun times on our sprawling green campus, just minutes from downtown. Sawyer Equestrian offers a Summer Horse Camp where campers can learn more about horses. Riders and campers will learn about grooming, tacking, riding, learning about Sawyer Equestrian’s horses, assisting and learning about daily horse care and creating horse-themed art projects.

The South Carolina Waterfowl Association’s Camp Woodie offers weeklong, overnight summer camps for ages 7-11 and 12-16. Activities include hunter safety training, five stand sporting clays, incoming and away skeet ranges, archery, and more.

Columbia Sailing Club hosts multiple Sailing Summer Camps for ages 4-18. The variety of classes accounts for all skill levels, and you don’t have to own a boat or be a club member in order to register. The camps are full-day programs (9:30 am – 4:30 pm).

Girls Scouts of South Carolina Mountains to Midlands is offering several summer camps for girls. Girls entering 1st-6th grades are invited to the Day Camp at The Cathy Novinger Girl Scout Leadership Center in Columbia.

Children aged 8 – 16 can enjoy Kayak Camp with the City of Columbia park rangers at Riverfront Park.

Pong Gang offers equestrian classes year-round. Classes offered include Western riding, English riding, and a Tiny Tots class.

Summer Camp: Pony Gang is a private residential and day camp for ages 6-14 years old. The camp is focused on helping campers build self-confidence, self-awareness, and self-acceptance. Campers will spend lots of time outside. No horse experience is necessary. There are limited spots available so be sure to register quickly. There’s also an overnight option (girls only).

Camp Chatuga is a traditional overnight summer camp for children ages 6 to 16 years old. Camp lengths vary from 1-4 weeks. Activities include horseback riding, water-skiing, BMX bikes, arts and crafts, archery, animal care, and so much more!

Full day and pop-up camps for kids ages 6 to 12 years-old. They also offer a pre-teen/teen camp for rising 6th-9th graders. Kids will learn to be good stewards of nature along with fun stem activities, games, ropes course and more.
