My Experience at Wingard Park

Ninety degree temperatures can’t keep my kids down, not when there’s a new park to check out. My 4 year-old and 1-year-old daughters and I cannot wait to check out the new Wingard Park in Lexington! As we entered the park, I can see that although it’s already pretty busy, but no fear, there’s ample parking in the lot. We walk through the sheltered picnic area, to get to the play area and note the bathrooms to our left. Underneath the sheltered area, there are multiple picnic tables, perfect for a picnic lunch or just a quick snack. There are trash cans located by nearly every table, making it easy for clean-up and any garbage disposal.

The first thing we see are kids lined up to take turns on the track ride gliders. At Wingard Park, there’s one that you can sit on freely and another that’s an inclusive harness swing. This particular swing provides extra support and safety with a full harness, allowing children of all abilities and ages to be able to zip down the track! Nearby there’s a jungle gym with multiple stairs, slides and obstacle courses below. Another smaller jungle gym beside it is perfect for those with smaller children like toddlers. My 1-year-old daughter loved the smaller one, as the slides were a little less intimidating and the stairs a little less ambitious!

For thrill-seekers, there’s Rope-climbing merry-go-round, a mini version of “tea cups” that spin individually as well we go around collectively like a merry-go-round
