Linga Binga in Chapin, SC: The Squishy Toy Shop Kids Beg to Visit Again

Posted on |

Linga Binga is a locally owned toy and gift shop in Chapin, SC, packed with squishies, slime, collectibles, and limited-edition blind boxes. Here’s what we loved, what a blind box costs, and where to eat nearby once the shopping is done.

Linga Binga is your kids’ new favorite spot, and it’s tucked right in Chapin, where it’s easy to drive past. My daughter came home from school asking for a bunny keychain for her bookbag for her birthday, so like most of us, I went straight to Amazon. Easy, done! Or so I thought. I bought three different ones, and none were soft enough to meet her standards. Her friend’s was way softer, so she asked where it came from. The answer: Linga Binga.

The short answer: Linga Binga is a toy and gift shop at 145 Chapin Road, Unit B, in Chapin, SC, with squishy testers, a kids’ play table, and blind boxes that were $35 when we bought one.

How a Bunny Keychain Led Us to Linga Binga

When I picked one up at the shop, it did feel totally different from the ones I’d ordered online. The owners explained to me that the keychains are made from real bunny fur, and that no bunnies are harmed in production because they are only shaved.

Those viral bunny keychains are just the start. Linga Binga carries all types of squishies, slime, collectibles, dumplings, gifts, toys, and baby and pet gifts, too.

A Squishy Tester Station Kids Can Actually Use

Here’s the thing I appreciate most: the squishies on the shelf are boxed, and the shop asks that you do not open them. But they keep one of nearly every type out as a tester, and the owners are happy to pull them ALL out for you to try.

We found slushy ones, crunchy ones, ones that smash flat and then return to shape, color-changing squishies, and butters in literally every size and a variety of colors. My kids could have tested them all afternoon.

Tip: Leave the boxed squishies sealed and ask for a tester instead! The owners will happily pull out one of every kind for your kids to squish.

The Blind Boxes Are the Thing to Grab

Our favorite find? The blind boxes! The shop makes only a limited number of them, and each one holds a variety of squishies that can’t be purchased individually in the store, only in the mystery box. They also create seasonal blind boxes, so keep an eye out for the Halloween and Christmas boxes.

We recently bought one as a birthday gift, and she was so excited seeing all the different squishies when she opened it. At just $35, you really can’t beat it. The items inside would cost well over $50 if you bought them all separately.

A Sneaky Lesson in Budgeting

Many kids come in with their own hard-earned money in hand, and the owners are super sweet about it. They are extremely patient with indecisiveness and with counting change so kids can make their own purchases.

I let my kids each choose one item that I would buy, and anything beyond that they had to buy with their own money. It was a good lesson in prioritizing purchases and budgeting. Honestly, they had so much fun just exploring and trying all the different types of squishies and toys. They seemed more appreciative of this outing than of the zoo and trampoline parks. I knew they’d enjoy it, but I had no idea they’d like it that much!

Room to Play (and a Couch for You)

There’s even a small area and table where kids can try products, explore, and play. A cozy couch by the front windows gives parents a spot to land, too.

More Than Just Squishies

Linga Binga is a curated gift and toy shop, so it’s a handy stop for birthday presents, baby gifts, and pet gifts as well. We even spotted a whole wall of novelty socks.

Our Honest Mom Review

Linga Binga is a stop we’ll happily make again. It’s a small, friendly, local shop where kids can touch, test, and choose for themselves, and where the owners are patient while kids count out their change. My only advice is to set a budget before you walk in, like we did, because the squishies are tempting. My kids are already asking to go back, and I would happily take them.
