Bierkeller’s Annual Weihnachtsmarkt Christmas Market

Now in its 2nd year, Bierkeller’s Annual Weihnachtsmarkt Christmas Market will be open every advent weekend, from the end of November until the weekend before Christmas. Come experience the unique atmosphere of Germany’s world-famous Christmas Markets right here in Columbia, South Carolina.

Located on the Canalside Plaza on the banks of the Congaree River in a cozy (gemütlich) setting, the markets feature local vendors; specialty foods; classic Christmas and other live music; festive lights; hot, mulled Glühwein; hot chocolate; and, of course, holiday and other beer.

Also making an appearance each weekend will be Sankt Nikolaus (AKA Santa Claus/St Nick). “Santa will be at the Christmas Market on each Saturday AND Sunday from 2pm-5pm for photos,” Jacobsen explains. “On Saturdays he will join the kids in the kids’ zone for questions and wishes, and on Sunday’s he’ll hold storytime in his tent he’s bringing from the North Pole. He’ll also have his naughty and nice lists…so tell the kids to be extra good as the time draws near!” Parents: come prepared with your cell phones/cameras; pics with Santa are FREE, but you’ll need to be the ones taking them.
