Azaleas in Bloom

Wingard’s Market, located at 1403 N Lake Dr, Lexington, SC 29072, was founded over 60 years ago by Judson “Jut” and Margie Wingard. Passionate gardeners, the Wingards first began their business selling azaleas at a roadside stand. Over time, their passion and business grew into a full-service nursery and eventually was taken over by their daughter, Delores and son-in-law, Wally Steinhauser.

From Nursery to Market

Originally named Wingard’s Nursery and Garden Center, the garden center has now evolved past just plants and perennials into a full produce market.

Nursery

The Wingards began selling their surplus of azaleas from their yard at a roadside stand. Ultimately, their business grew into Wingard’s Nursery & Garden Center, selling plants and gardening supplies. By 2013, the family added a small produce stand, and by 2015, they had added a full produce section.

Market

As Wingard’s produce business grew, the name “nursery” no longer reflected Wingard’s multifaceted business. In 2016, Delores and Wally Steinhauser re-branded the it from Wingard’s Nursery and Garden Center to simply Wingard’s Market. Today, Wingard’s Market sells local produce from locally-sourced farmers. From carrots to cauliflower to peaches and pork, Wingard’s product portfolio is vast.
