Enjoy Time Together in the Common Areas
The Orange Pit is the perfect size for a home base during a trip to Columbia, SC. With about 1,750 square feet in all, families with kids can easily spend time together or spread out across the house during their stay.
The living room is bright and open, thanks to large windows that let in plenty of natural light. It’s a great place to gather for family movie night, play board games on the coffee table, or just relax while the kids recharge in their rooms. A desk also provides a convenient spot to do remote work or schoolwork as needed on your trip.
The dining table seats six and is already preset, inviting you to sit down to your next family meal. We appreciated being able to have breakfast together each day before heading out to enjoy the city.
The kitchen is beautifully renovated with stainless steel appliances, including a refrigerator with freezer, dishwasher, and oven with stovetop. Small appliances provide additional comforts, like a microwave, single-serve coffee maker, and standard coffee pot. We were especially impressed by the combined washer and dryer, where you can wash and dry all your clothes in one convenient cycle!
The Orange Pit’s backyard holds a lot of promise, and the owners have already put together a beautiful fire pit with Adirondack seating and romantic string lights. A chainlink fence wraps around the yard, and landscaping improvements are underway which may provide greater privacy from the neighbors. Consider requesting an update from the owner before booking if you’d like to use the backyard during your stay.
Get Personal Space in Private Bedrooms
The three bedrooms at the end of the hall provide ample privacy for parents and kids to unwind with different nighttime routines. Each bedroom has lots of pillows, fluffy comforters, and a 55-inch TV equipped with Roku! Thick curtains make sleeping through the night so much easier, and families will appreciate the flexibility for babies, toddlers, and older kids to each have their own space.

The master bedroom offers a comfortable king-sized bed and its own full bathroom. The shower has excellent water pressure and a mounted dispenser for shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The other bedrooms have a queen-sized bed in one and two single-sized beds in the other, and they share a hall bathroom.
