Epidemic Inspired
Sneak A Peek, located at 1113 Taylor St, Columbia, SC 29201, opened in December 2021. Owner Sheena Vaccaro, a nurse practitioner specializing in Obstetrics and Gynecology, says the inspiration for opening Sneak a Peek came after working in the medical field during the COVID-19 epidemic.
“During the height of COVID-19, I was working as a nurse practitioner in women’s health, seeing 20-25 OB patients a day. At that time, the hospitals and offices were strictly limiting visitors to include spouses and family members. These restrictions caused a lot of anxiety and unease for many of our patients. At the same time, all of the brick-and-mortar maternity and baby stores were closing,” Vaccaro explains.
A New Concept: Sneak a Peek
Because of the changing medical and retail climate, Vaccaro saw an opportunity to bring something to the Midlands unlike anything else in the area.
“I figured opening an elective ultrasound studio with a maternity and baby boutique would help provide an opportunity for expecting mothers to include their families in their pregnancy journey while helping alleviate some anxiety,” she says.
Only One of its Kind
What’s different about Sneak a Peek? Everything! There’s no other non-diagnostic ultrasound or boutique experience like it in the area!
“We stand out as Columbia’s only ultrasound studio with an accompanying boutique. Located on Taylor Street, our studio is nestled in the heart of the vibrant Main Street District A.K.A. Soda City,” remarks Vaccaro.

Who doesn’t love a sale? Sneak a Peek offers several sale promotions throughout the year, especially during the holidays!
Vaccaro says, “We have various sales going on throughout the year and around holidays. We make sure to post any sales or promotions on our Facebook (Sneak a Peek Boutique) and Instagram (@sneakapeeksc) accounts. Also, every December we offer large discounts on our ultrasound packages to celebrate our store’s anniversary!”
Giveaways Galore
In addition to sales, the ultrasound boutique also features some fun monthly giveaways!
“Every month we offer a free ultrasound giveaway. We post winners and instructions on how to enter to win on our Facebook page,” Vaccaro remarks.
Growth and Enhancement
Though there are no current plans for expansion, Vaccaro explains that she’s instead focusing on what she can do to enhance the present ultrasound and boutique experience.
She says, “At the moment, our primary focus is on expanding and enhancing our current studio and boutique. We’re dedicated to providing exceptional experiences and products to our customers here in Columbia.”
Permanent Market Fixture
Aside from their location on Taylor Street, Sneak a Peek is also showcased at Partager Gallery and Gifts. Partager is a shop featuring a menagerie of various artists and eclectic retailers all in one spot, that Vacarro describes as “a unique permanent market for boutique shops.” She says their presence there allows them to “reach a broader audience while also maintaining their commitment to quality.”
Before and After: Baby Ultrasound Pictures
Vacarro confesses one of her favorite things about owning Sneak A Peek Baby Boutique is seeing the babies pre and post-birth!
“One of my favorite things about owning Sneak A Peek Boutique is being able to see the babies after they are born and comparing them to the ultrasound pictures! It’s amazing how clear of an image you can get of your sweet baby before they are even born. I also love seeing the pride and excitement from the parents/families when they come back to visit after they have delivered to show off their new ones! It’s always sweet to be a part of their pregnancy journey,” Vacarro marvels.
