This picturesque, family-run farm, offers families the opportunity to encounter farm life up close and personal. Guests may experience activities like petting, feeding and brushing horses, as well as a number of other farm animals! Whether it’s a first pony ride, a hands-on music class for toddlers, or even a birthday celebration, Horse Crossing Farm offers unforgettable escape that’s equal parts fun as well as educational!

Equine Programs

Horse Lessons

Designed for children 5 and older, these lessons are ideal for beginners through intermediate horse riders. Instruction focuses on the full scope of horsemanship, starting with groundwork and grooming, progressing through tacking, riding fundamentals and the basics of English and Western riding. Riders also learn essential horse-care topics such as hoof maintenance, nutrition, veterinary and dental needs, and tack care. Lessons are semi-private, ensuring personalized guidance at $40 per hour.

Tiny Trots

Created specifically for young children aged 18 months to 4 years, Tiny Trots introduces little ones to horses in a more gentle, structured environment. Each 30-minute session includes brushing a miniature or full-sized horse, a slow, assisted ride, and time to give the horse a treat. These lessons help toddlers build confidence, balance, and comfort around large animals. Sessions are available on weekday afternoons for $25 each.

Meet and Greets

These private, hands-on farm tours are one of Horse Crossing Farm’s most popular offerings. Ideal for families and small groups, these meet and greets provide up-close interaction with a wide range of animals including horses, ponies, goats, sheep, alpaca, llama, pigs, mini cows, mini mules, hedgehogs, ducks, chickens, rabbits, turkeys, guineas, peacocks, and even an emu. Children can pet, brush, feed, and learn about each species. Lead-line horse rides are included, along with access to a dedicated small-animal pen for young children. The cost is $70 per hour for 1–2 children, plus $10 for each additional child. Offered every day except Sundays.

Photography Sessions

These are farm-themed photography sessions with farm or seasonal decor and live animals (horses, alpacas, unicorn pony, miniature horse, standard horse and/or bunnies). Offerings include, but are not limited to the following: Fall, Halloween, Christmas, Spring, Easter, Back-to-School, proposals/engagement. Approximately 35 edited, color photos (as well as a black and white version of each photo) are included with unlimited access to the digital downloads. Sessions cost $75, with a 50% deposit required upon booking. These sessions are ideal for anyone wanting unique and memorable portraits.

Old MacDonald Music Classes

For children aged 18 months to 4 years, these music-based classes blend playful songs with live animal interaction. Children sing along, explore instruments, and meet friendly farm animals in an engaging early-childhood environment. Each class is $20 per child and designed to support sensory development, rhythm awareness, and confidence.

Once Upon a Farm: Toddler Time

This literacy-focused program for children aged 0 to 4 includes themed storytime, music, sensory activities, crafts, and guided animal interaction. Toddlers explore books connected to farm life, create simple crafts, and meet animals related to the story theme. The class costs $30 per child and includes one free accompanying adult. Advance registration is required.

Paint & Pet Classes

Open to children, adults, families, and groups, Paint & Pet classes combine creativity with animal encounters. Participants receive guided art instruction—commonly painting a hedgehog portrait—followed by hands-on time with various farm animals. All supplies are included, and the cost is $35 per participant. These classes are perfect for birthday groups, homeschoolers, or family outings.

Mary Had a Little Lamb Class

This wool and fiber–focused class explores sheep, alpaca, and rabbit fibers through reading, crafts, and hands-on interaction. The session includes a read-aloud of The Yarn Fairy, an activity booklet, and a wet-felting craft where children create their own egg shaker. The class teaches early science concepts related to wool and fibers and is offered in collaboration with local artisans and the book’s author.

This special literary event features a reading and signing of Victoria Quinney’s The Yarn Fairy, paired with a fiber-arts lesson, a hands-on wool activity, and petting time with fiber animals including sheep, llama, alpaca, and rabbits. It blends literacy, art, and animal engagement into a memorable educational experience.

Mother Goose Music Class

Held during the Mother’s Day season, this themed class for ages 4 and under incorporates music, a storytime session, a keepsake craft, and gentle animal interaction. It is designed as a sweet bonding experience for young children and caregivers.

Deck the Stalls

“Deck the Stalls” is Horse Crossing Farm’s signature Christmas experience designed especially for toddlers and young children. The event features festive decorations, holiday music, themed activities, and photo opportunities with friendly farm animals. Children enjoy petting and feeding animals, exploring holiday crafts, and experiencing a warm and joyful barn atmosphere. Past years show specific scheduled dates such as Friday, December 12 at 9:30 AM, with registration required. It is ideal for families seeking a magical, low-key Christmas outing with hands-on animal fun.

Birthday Parties

Birthday parties at the farm offer a full two-hour private experience designed to engage and delight children. Guests can brush and feed horses, visit and interact with all farm animals, enjoy lead-line horse rides, and explore the small-animal petting area. Parties include up to 8 children, with additional guests added for $10 each. The total cost is $350 with a $50 deposit required. Most celebrations are scheduled on Saturdays, though some weekday accommodations can be made upon request.

Field Trips

Field trips are available to schools, daycare groups, homeschool co-ops, and clubs on weekday mornings. Students learn about the full range of farm animals through guided educational activities led by a former public school teacher. Children engage in petting, feeding, and observing animals, as well as learning about lifecycles, habitats, and responsible animal care. Prices range from $10–$15 per child depending on group size, and adults attend free.

Field Trips

Farm Camp

Farm Camp is a four-day program for children aged 6 to 12, offered in morning (8 AM–12 PM) or evening (4 PM–8 PM) sessions. The camp includes horse care and riding instruction, farm animal care, water games, creative crafts, photography activities and exploration of daily farm life. The cost is $275 per child, and sessions fill quickly.

Farm Depot Gift Shop

Horse Crossing Farm’s Farm Depot features locally sourced and handcrafted products. From eggs, produce, flowers and compost bags to vintage farm décor, artwork, soaps, candles and jewelry, you’re bound to discover a unique gift or groceries for yourself or someone else.

How to Prepare for Your Visit to the Farm

Plan Ahead

Check dates, times, and fees before you go. Some activities require pre-registration, deposits, or have age restrictions.

Dress for the Farm

Wear closed-toe shoes and weather appropriate clothing (Fall/Winter: Long pants, layers, sunscreen and water) and (Spring/Summer: Sunscreen, a hat and water). And a little reminder: Farms can be muddy!

What to Bring

Take along snacks for longer farm activities and classes, a quilt or blanket for sitting on the ground and a phone or camera for photos.

Expect

Expect a relaxed, hands-on environment where kids learn and play safely. Farm activities vary by season and event type, so prepare for animals, crafts, music and outdoor fun.
