Columbia Fireflies at Segra Park

See You at Segra Park!

In the heart of the transforming and quickly developing Bullstreet District, you will find Segra Park – the home of the Columbia Fireflies baseball team. When it’s not baseball season, you will still find several events, such as concerts, taking place at Segra Park as it is open year-round.

Each week, Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, Segra Park is open to the public. Go here for a unique lunch spot or even to walk the concourse where each lap around equals ⅓ of a mile.

Let’s Go, Fireflies!

The Columbia Fireflies are an affiliate of the major league baseball team, the Kansas City Royals. The firefly mascot’s name is “Mason”. Mason can be spotted at most games walking around, interacting with fans, and posing for great photo-ops.

Have a child that is unsure of large, walking characters? Have no fear, there is even a statue of Mason at the entrance to the team shop that is also picture-worthy!

Columbia Fireflies Promotions and Family-Friendly Fun

The Fireflies team does a FANTASTIC job at keeping games engaging and very family-friendly. At almost every game there are different promotions that are planned like post-game fireworks, discounts on adult beverages, t-shirt giveaways, kids base running after the game, and so much more!

There are also silly challenges played by fans, upbeat music, and of course baseball cheers and chants by everyone all throughout the game! It truly is such a great atmosphere that your whole tribe is sure to enjoy!

Columbia Fireflies Tickets

There are several ticketing options to see the Fireflies. You can purchase tickets in advance online (starting at just $6) or at the gate upon arrival. Children 2 and younger are free.

As always, a good rule of thumb would be to purchase your tickets ahead of time to avoid crowds and save some time. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday games are known to be the most crowded. That being said, plan to arrive early, especially if you’ll need to buy tickets at the box office.

Tickets can be purchased as:

  • Individual game tickets
    • Prices start at $6/ticket
    • Military discount available for “All-Star seating”
  • Season memberships
    • Full, half, or partial-season memberships are available
    • Price varies widely depending on the package
  • Group tickets
    • Can include birthday parties, picnics, suits, family and children packages, and more
    • Price varies on package and group size

Seating Options at Segra Park

Segra Park can hold up to 10,000 fans for sporting events! There are SO MANY different seating options for your family to choose from.

Along with several different levels of traditional stadium-style seats, there is also the “Berm”. This can be found in the outfield and is a large, grassy hill where you can bring a blanket or towel and spread out with your family. This might be a great option for families with young or active kiddos as there is usually a bit more room to roam and move about.

Additionally, there is the “Homerun Porch” which is the best place to be if your little fans are eager to catch a ball! More options for seating include suites, “4-Topps”, and the “Bullpen Boxes”.

Important Tips and Info Before Going to Segra Park Bag Policy

An important thing to be aware of before loading up your team and heading to the ballfield is that there is a clear bag policy at Segra. The policy in place closely matches other major sporting events and fields – one clear bag per person, no backpacks, diaper bags, fanny packs, etc.

Another good thing to keep in mind is that you may need bug spray and sunscreen! The game my family and I went to began at 5 pm so we needed sunscreen at the beginning, but about halfway through the game, we were in desperate need of bug spray to keep the pesky gnats away.

Segra Park is a Certified Sensory Inclusive Ballfield

Recently, the Columbia Fireflies have partnered with the non-profit organization, KultureCity, to become a Certified Sensory Inclusive ballpark. To become a sensory-inclusive ballfield, all staff at Segra Field were trained on how to recognize and assist fans with sensory needs.

In my opinion, what’s even more awesome is that fans who have special sensory needs will be given sensory bags complete with things such as noise-canceling headphones, fidget toys, weighted lap pads, and verbal cue cards.

Families can also download the KultureCity App to have access to a social story of what to expect while attending the game as well as additional sensory-friendly features and where/how to access them while at Segra Park.

Baseball games can often be noisy, unpredictable, and all-around overstimulating. This partnership brings about so many opportunities and wonderful tools for families so that EVERYONE can enjoy a night out at the ballfield.

Columbia Firefly Kids Zone

Before and during the games, there are several jump castles for kiddos to enjoy for a small, additional fee. I love that this is available as it helps kids get their wiggles out and let’s face it, who doesn’t love an inflatable trampoline or big slide?!

Did you know that the USC Gamecock baseball field also has a wonderful kid’s zone and playground? Be sure to check out their game day schedule and catch a game this spring!

Get Your Fireflies Gear at the Mason Jar Fan Store

Are you in need of some Firefly gear? The Mason Jar Fan Store can be found towards the middle of the covered concourse and has all the memorabilia that you’ll want or need. Here, you can find baby onesies, adult clothing, baseballs, pennants, small souvenirs, and everything in between!

The fan store is not only open during games, but also throughout the week for Firefly fans!
