Backyard Saturday – A Way With Wild Things
New this year, the beloved Backyard Saturday program is getting a literary twist! Join in each month for a pop-in adventure that brings a favorite book to life through nature, play, and discovery. Perfect for little explorers, scientists, and readers, each program is themed around the month’s book and features hands-on activities inspired by the story.
Families can enjoy Ranger Rachel’s Storytime, along with the following activity stations:
- The Story Continues Hike – a self-guided hike or scavenger hunt inspired by the book
- World-Building Play Bins – sensory play bins with imaginative, story-based themes
- You Are the Main Character Activity Area – matching, counting, and learning games using the story’s characters and setting
- Between the Pages Science Table – featuring biofacts and hands-on science exploration
- How the Story Goes Imagination Station – a unique, story-specific creative activity
We’re also excited to introduce Saluda Rudy’s Mobile Little Free Library, where families can trade books and learn about other libraries throughout the park. Come experience the perfect blend of nature, books, and play!
Details:
